The Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Royal Patronage joined Himatsuri Festival, which was held from 29th April - 5th May in Kasama, Ibaraki prefecture, Japan. This is the second year which the Mae Fah Luang Foundation exhibited its ceramic works according to the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Foundation and Kasama city in 2015 to train ceramic artists.

Himatsuri Festival, or the Festival of Fire, is the largest ceramic festival in Japan which has been taking place for 36 years, with an average visitor attendance of 500,000. This year, there were over 230 artist booths at the fair.

On this occasion, the Governor of Ibaraki prefecture visited the Mae Fah Luang Foundation’s booth, and was escorted by Mom Rajawongse Disnadda Diskul, Chairman, and Khunying Puangroi Diskul na Ayudhya, Chief Executive Officer, to view the exhibition comprising 700 ceramic pieces created under the tutelage of Kasama master craftsmen, combined with the natural and cultural inspirations of the Doi Tung artisans.

Apart from ceramic works, visitors could also sample Doi Tung Coffee, with the support of the Ibaraki International Friendship & Welfare Foundation.
