The anniversary of the passing of Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother is marked annually on 18 July with a solemn ceremony in Chiang Rai, attended by tens of thousands of people whose lives have been touched in one way or another by this beloved member of the royal family. This year, on 18 July, M.R. Disnadda Diskul, Chairman of the Board of the Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Royal Patronage, and Secretary-General of the Royal Initiative Discovery Foundation, together with senior executives of the Foundation, participated in the annual commemorative event. Held at the Mae Fah Luang Art and Cultural Park in Chiang Rai, the event comprised a merit-making ceremony and a tribute ceremony, led by the Governor of Chiang Rai.

The event started with a merit-making ceremony at the Clover Courtyard, followed with a presentation of Mae Fah Luang flowers at the foot of the bronze statue of the Princess Mother. This was attended by members of the government and private sectors in this northern province, as well as ethnic hill tribes whose lives were greatly improved under the Princess Mother’s development programmes. They turned up in numbers, dressed in their ethnic costumes, to show their gratitude to the late Princess Mother.
